Kevin McCarthy has had his wife, Judy McCarthy, by his side since the beginning of his political career, spanning over 30 years.

Judy has been a supportive spouse throughout Kevin's political journey, standing by him during key moments and challenges.

Kevin McCarthy was elected House Majority Leader in 2014 and later became the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in January 2023. However, he was ousted from this position nine months later in a historic recall vote.

Efforts to remove Kevin from his position were led by far-right Republicans who had sought reasons to relieve him of his duties since his initial election.

Judy McCarthy grew up in Frazier Park, California, as the youngest of four children, with a close-knit family and a foundation of faith instilled by her mother.

Judy and Kevin met in high school, became high school sweethearts, and continued their relationship despite moving to Washington, D.C., for Kevin's political career.

They married in 1992 and celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary with a sweet tribute posted by Kevin on Facebook.

The couple has two children, Connor and Meghan, who have been supportive of their father's political career. Both children have been present during significant events, such as Kevin's election as Speaker.

Judy McCarthy is a Christian, and she considers her faith an essential part of her life and ministry. The Bible is mentioned as her favorite book.

Judy volunteers at Ford’s Theatre and has been on the board of trustees for a decade. Both Judy and Kevin publicly support the theater's mission to celebrate the legacy of President Abraham Lincoln.
